00 Prologue · About me

Hi, I'm Nyah.

I'm a Stanford Bioengineering graduate and Dean's Fellow in Columbia's Project Management program, Technology Management track. My engineering foundation taught me how to approach complex problems. My passion has always been making sure the people encountering those problems are equipped to understand them clearly — and act.

My experience spans project management, cross-functional collaboration and strategic communication — from leading a C-suite pitch campaign at IPG Health to securing a $10K grant from strategy to submission. I'm a National Champion speaker and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Communication isn't just a skill for me — it's a personal mission.

01 The voice · 2021

It started with learning how to explain anything — fast.

In 2021 I won the NSDA National Championship in Prepared Prompt / Impromptu Speaking — a prompt, a few minutes, and a room to persuade. At Stanford I turned that into teaching others to do the same.

Honor · 2021
#1

NSDA National Champion — Prepared Prompt / Impromptu.

Workshops
45′

Communication workshops I designed and led for Writing & Rhetoric students.

Why it mattersMaking complex ideas land for a real audience is the skill everything else in this story builds on.

02 The science · Stanford

Then I learned the technical side — and how to make it human.

At Stanford I earned a B.S. in Bioengineering (December 2025), with a Minor in Art Practice and a Notation in Cultural Rhetoric — and spent time both in a research lab and behind a camera.

Degree

Bioengineering

The rigor to understand how complex technical systems actually work.

Minor

Art Practice

The visual craft to make ideas look as clear as they sound.

Notation

Cultural Rhetoric

How messages move people — and why they sometimes don't.

Why it mattersI can sit in the lab and understand the work — then make it look and sound clear to everyone else.

03 The proof · In practice

Then I put it all to work — and got results.

A global healthcare agency, a university funding office and my family's business — three different worlds, the same skill.

C-suite pitch

Interns I led as Project Manager, judged by the IPG Health CEO.

Grant
$10K

To fund Stanford's first Black Greek Alumni Reunion.

Why it mattersLeading people, winning stakeholders and shipping software — the same communication skill, applied three ways.

04 The people · Community

Along the way, I made sure others could rise too.

Mentoring has been a constant for 6+ years — college essays, fellow interns, my sorority and my community back home in Illinois.

Why it mattersHelping someone find and tell their story is the same work as helping a user understand a product.

05 The system · Columbia

Now I'm studying how technology gets built.

I'm in Columbia University's M.S. in Project Management for Technology — part of the inaugural cohort, selected as a Dean's Fellow. New York, NY · Fall 2026.

Why it mattersUnderstanding how tech teams plan and deliver is where the communication gap really opens — and where I can close it.

06 The mission · Next

Next, I want to close the gap.

I want to join a team where I can work at the intersection of technology and people — contributing across functions, moving fast and making a tangible impact early. I'm drawn to environments where complex problems need clear thinking and clear communication to move forward.

Open to

Operations

Timelines, check-ins and workflows that keep teams moving.

Open to

Strategy

Turning complex problems into a clear plan people can act on.

Open to

Making sure what gets built makes sense to the people using it.

Also
